District 3 – Southwest
Governor Nancy Cook-Senn
1705 Spruce Circle,
It is an inestimable privilege and joy to serve as the second District Governor of 3- Southwest! PDG and Vice Council Chair J.P. Williams kicked off our second century with a year devoted to communication and camaraderie. 3-SW is a vibrant, serving group of Lions who, I know, will actively try to “Sail Beyond the Horizon” in service.
A native of New Mexico and graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University with two Master’s degrees from The University of Oklahoma, I had a career in journalism at The Daily Oklahoman and The Shawnee NewsStar, where I also was editor of She’s OK! Magazine.
I also did public relations for The State Fair of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Theater Center. I have been adjunct instructor at OBU, Seminole State College and East Central University. I published a novel, “Mantilla Bluff,” and I’m supposed to be working on the next book between Lions projects.
When Shawnee Lions invited my boss to join, he “voluntold” me instead. Lionism has been a happy part of my life for more than 20 years, from my first assignment as chairman of Cake Bingo at our carnival, through club and district offices, to being named 3-K Lion of the Year in 2017 and Pat Shurley Service Award in 2018, and my club honoring me with a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 2016
