Neal is a member of the McAlester Lions Club and an Associate member of the Wilburton Lions Club. He served as President of the McAlester Lions Club for two years and has served as Zone Chair for Southeastern Oklahoma.
Since retiring from Amoco/BP in 2005, Neal has stayed busy owning and operating a Cartridge World retail store as well as Grandpa’s Berry Patch, a you-pick blackberry farm dedicated to his late father Wendall Wood.
Neal continues to stay active as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, where he has served in many capacities since 1983, including Scoutmaster for 12+ years. Neal has been a Volunteer Firefighter in Latimer County for 28 years, where he has served as Assistant Chief, Chief, Treasurer and still continues to serve as a Training officer. Neal has served as a CLEET certified Reserve Police Officer for Wilburton and Okeene, an EMT-I for Latimer County ambulance services along with assisting with search & recovery operations for the Latimer County Sheriff’s office.
Neal taught Scuba Diving at Eastern Oklahoma State College for several years.
As an avid Harley Davison owner and enthusiast, Neal has served as Safety Officer for his Harley Owners Group motorcycle club for the past 12 years.
Neal and his wife, Nancy (who is also a member of the Wilburton Lions Club), reside in Wilburton, Oklahoma. They have been married for 45 years and have two children and three grandchildren.
In his spare time, Neal enjoys woodworking, riding his motorcycle, spending time with his grandchildren and offering to drive his restored 1949 Seagrave Fire Truck in community parades across Oklahoma.
